Lisa Rider came to Clyde-Green Springs Schools in 1990. Her Middle School teaching responsibilities include the direction of McPherson Middle School 7th and 8th grade bands, directing Simply Blue, the Middle School Jazz Band, directing the middle school pep band for pep rallies, and coaching solos and ensembles for adjudicated events. She also teaches various elementary general music classes from Vine Street Elementary School, and teaches 6th Grade Band Lessons at Green Springs Elementary School. Mrs. Rider’s High School responsibilities include assisting Mr. McKenzie with the High School Concert Band and Marching Band, along with High School Solos and Ensembles for adjudicated events.
Mrs. Rider earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University where she studied alto saxophone with Dr. John Sampen. Her student teaching experience was with the Oak Harbor High School, Middle School, and Elementary Bands. She earned her Masters of Arts in Education and School Counseling Degree from Heidelberg College. She is a graduate of Port Clinton High School.
Mrs. Rider is also active in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Clinton. She established a handbell choir in 1990 and continues to manage and direct the ensemble today. In addition to enhancing the church services of St. John’s, the St. John Handbell Choir has also participated in area clinics and performed at various community events in the Port Clinton area. Other interests include water skiing, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, and traveling with her husband (Carl) and son (Collin). She also enjoys gardening, scrapbooking, attending her son’s baseball games and flag-football games, and playing with her very active German Shorthaired Pointer, Fritz.
